i am taking my first International Studies class this semester, which is quite exciting. except for the fact that we have a textbook to read for every region of the world. . . every 2 weeks we have to have one read. it is quite a bit, but im excited about learning some cool stuff about the world.
I decided why not share some interesting facts about each region as I learn it, and you in turn can add to it with any superbly fascinating facts you have stored up!

First, we are covering EUROPE! quite a bit of history, economics, and confusing politics with each country having a million political parties it is quite hard to keep up. But here is what i found delightfully interesting:
• the Walloons are a major ethnic group in Belgium. it is also a language similar to French. Flemish is another of their languages, more similar to German.
• You don’t have to use your passport to travel in between countries in the EU (European Union), which sounds super easy. but this does have a problem with loose immigration laws in some countries that therefore allow immigrants into ALL EU countries. hmm what a conundrum.
• Greenland is the world’s largest island
• Denmark is one of the world’s best-run social welfare states with ALL working persons getting an annual five-week PAID vacation. (lets go to denmark?)
• There are a number of “mini-states”, basically small countries, in Europe. Some of these I hadn’t even heard of, quite terrible really. But here are some:
Andorra, Liechtenstein(with a population roughly the same as LSU?), Monaco, San Marino

well I haven’t finished reading all of the book so that is all I’ve got right now. but enjoy those tidbits, do you have any cool European facts you’d like to share??

back in high school i got my first job, at Oreck Factory Showroom. yep, thats the vacuum store. well i worked there for a while, but moved on to greener pastures. well not a real pasture, just a hair salon.
this past semester i took a semester off of working, but now that I am going to Tanzania this summer [ I AM GOING TO TANZANIA THIS SUMMER!] I needed to get a job again to earn some mula.
so. . . guess what?!
indeed, i am now working again at the lovely Oreck. so if you have any sort of cleaning or home care needs, you know who to call. well, obviously not me. i just type stuff in the computer and clean.
yes it is totally random

i know i promised i wouldn’t show this to anybody, but it is far to grand to keep to myself.
yes, jarred, chris, and i were at academy recently and stumbled upon this jewel that had to have been built just for them. if you know these two, then you understand that they are. . . wel, very close.
anyway, thought this was perfect for these two goobers.
thats all.

i snapped this picture last Thursday morning while we were out hanging with some of our homeless friends and serving them some breakfast. it is one of my favorite things i look forward to in the week, to just get a chance to hang out with these people, listen to some of their stories, serve up some hot grits, and like a couple of the guys (and Susan Rodgers) are doing here- just pray with people who are hurting.
so simple, just displaying the love of Christ in a relevant way. love it.

Yes my friends, Andrew’s teeth are bare and brace-free. That boy and I got braces on at the same time- the summer of 2003, and he has FINALLY gotten them off.

I had to go to the doctor yesterday because my nose had been bothering me. so they checked it out and decided that i needed an x-ray. well in order to do an x-ray you really aren’t supposed to have any metal on your face. . . since i got my nose pierced I am really not supposed to take it out for 6 weeks and im not about to just pop that sucker out.

Instead they just took an x-ray with it in. the doc was not pleased, but hey, c’est la vie.

wahhh! can you see it?!
